As we gather together this Wednesday, we’ll be reminded of our reliable, unchanging God during our ever changing lives. Let’s take a look at Psalm 111.
Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them. Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever. (verses 1-3, ESV)
Are you in awe of the things our God has done? Stop and consider His many miracles. How about His great sacrifices? What about His patient perseverance or unfading love?
He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful. He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the inheritance of the nations. (verses 4-6, ESV)
He gives and gives more than we ask and certainly more than we deserve.
The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy; they are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness. He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name! The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever! (verses 7-10, ESV)
Do you get the sense of the certain of His words and actions? So much of life is temporary. What is here today, is gone tomorrow. What will the next five, ten, or 100 years bring? What will tomorrow bring? God’s reign stands the test of time. God is Forever!
