We have a short Psalm this week. There’s only 3 verses. It’s Psalm 133.
Behold how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! (verse 1, ESV)
Unity seems to be something that is hard to find these days. Division and discord can be so draining. Peace brings rest. Where do you find your peace?
It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes! (verse 2, ESV)
Soothing, flowing, calming, oil helps things work with less friction. Aaron was anointed as priest being a connection point between God and His people. Jesus was anointed with oil, but it was His blood poured out that removed the barrier between us and God.
It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore. (verse 3, ESV)
Refreshing, life sustaining water is a gift of God. Our God is a giver with His greatest blessing being eternity with Him. We certainly value unity with one another, but how much more so to know peace with God.
Your faith has saved you, go in peace. (Luke 7:50)
