We live to make Christ known.

Weekly Wednesday Prayer Time

As we gather together this Wednesday, we’ll take a look at a familiar psalm, Psalm 23.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. (verses 1-3, ESV)

Isn’t that refreshing, restful? Our Good Shepherd will make sure we have what we need. We can rest at ease in His care and protection, trusting His guidance.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (verse 4, ESV)

Even through dark days, even with death looming around each corner, we have God with us. There is no power greater than His. It is His presence and His Word that bring comfort.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (verses 5-6, ESV)

God is a gracious host, giving and giving, followed by more giving. Our comfort lies not just in the here and now but for all eternity. We’ll have safety, security, and comfort without end. God is our Comfort
