We again encourage you to gather together Wednesday evening. It can be after supper, before bed, or just take a break at 7pm. Feel free to offer your own prayers and read your own choice of scripture. Below you can take a look at Psalm 20. It was written as a group of people praying for God’s blessings on their king.
May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect you! May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion! May he remember all your offerings and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! (verses 1-3, ESV)
For whom can you be praying? It could be family, friends, people in your work place, or leaders locally or across the globe. Remember, it is not the strength or wisdom of the individuals, but God being at work in and through them.
May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans! May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions! (verses 4-5, ESV)
I also pray for blessings for you. Have you noticed any yet? Maybe you’ve gotten to spend more time with your family or reconnected with others. Maybe you’ve used the extra time to do things you wouldn’t have gotten done otherwise. Maybe it’s just gotten you to rethink about what really matters.
Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright. O Lord, save the king! May he answer us when we call. (verses 6-9, ESV)
It is God that saves. Where do you place your trust? How does knowing how capable God is, give you peace?
God is GOOD!
