What: | The sacristan is responsible for the communion ware (trays, common cup, flagon, paten, ciborium, etc), and supplies needed for the celebration of Holy Communion. Assistant ushers set up the altar for Holy Communion. Elders take care of the distribution and return the elements to the sacristy. This person would be responsible for making sure that the communion vessels are in good repair, the silver is polished periodically, and that supplies such as wine and wafers are available. This person may or may not be responsible for maintaining the communion lines such as the veil and purificators. This individual would work closely with the pastor(s) and would be trained by the pastor(s). |
